DoubleBit Software News

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

After almost 8 years of inactivity, DoubleBit Software is pleased to announce nothing new, and that the website continues to look as crusty as ever. At least it doesn't look as bad as a Geocities website (yet).

Well, almost nothing new. I do have a new website, JavaScript Machines, where you can tinker with classic IBM PC machines in the comfort of your own web browser. Here's an example.

If you're looking for Pocket TV Browser updates or new Pocket Aargon level packs, I'm sorry to report that development on those programs stopped long ago. But why dwell on the past? Instead, dwell on the past! It's a lot cheaper than buying old machines on eBay, and JavaScript Machines are infinitely customizable.

An update to Pocket Aargon (v1.05) is available (free for all registered users), and some new Level Packs are now available for purchase.  Go to Pocket Aargon Downloads for details.

Pocket TV Browser users: If you're having problems downloading listings from Evolve, and you live in North America, then you might want to try the XMLTV service instead, courtesy of Zap2it.  It takes a little more work to set up, but the listings are free.

Here's a link to the Pocket TV Browser XMLTV Support page to get you started.  Note that you'll need to upgrade to version 1.77 of Pocket TV Browser (available on that page).

Please Note: issues with Evolve's listing service are beyond our control.  If you're unable to download listings from their servers for more than a couple days, or you have other issues with your Evolve account, then you must contact Evolve at support@evolvecomm.com.

Pocket TV Browser has returned!  Browse TV Listings on your PDA just like "the good ol' days".

We have partnered with Evolve Solutions to provide dependable TV listings for your handheld.  Unlike "free" TV listings that come and go, you can try Evolve's service for 2 weeks at no charge, and then for a modest annual subscription fee of $10/year (payable directly to Evolve, not DoubleBit Software), get the best TV listings available for your handheld.

Visit the Downloads page for the latest version of the software, and then sign up with Evolve when setting up your listings.
